Finding Paradise
I never stood up very tall.
I think my voice was fairly small.
But there were times I'd want to shout,
though my thoughts weren't sorted out,
so I'd stumble and I'd fall.
I learned to fly because of you.
So if you left I could go too.
And everything you saw in me,
that's what I wanted to be,
did I make it after all?
All the grass on the other side,
is it only greener in my mind?
I'd still want it the same,
because trading my yesterday,
is to wish my life away.
As we dream and as we grow,
we have to learn to let things go.
But let the wonder never fade,
though we've turned 10,000 pages,
flying high or stuck below.
I've searched for meaning amidst doubt.
I've finally figured that part out.
And all the stories inside me,
feels like I'm bursting at the seams,
and you're here after all.
All the grass on the other side,
is it only greener in my mind?
I'd still want it the same,
because trading my yesterday,
is to wish my life away.
Assalamu'alaikum wr. wb.
The lyrics above was a soundtrack of a game called "Finding Paradise", an indie game with a unique story about researchers who could alter people's subconscious just before they die, so that they can die 'peacefully' according to their last wishes.
In this particular story, the researchers spent a lot of time figuring out what exactly was it that would make this dying patient happy and if there's any regrets that they have to alter before he leaves for good, just to find out later that he did not want to change anything. He wanted to embrace everything he experienced in his life, be it happy or sad, and be grateful for it.
All those lonely days when he was a young boy who had no real friends, those moments when he messed up his proposal, that one time when he spilled some juice on his first breakfast with his wife, the times when he celebrated his son's birthday, everything. He wanted to embrace them all.
This story reminds me that whatever it is that happens in your life now, this moment and a bunch of others will someday fall into place when you look back at it. We will someday be at the point when we realize that all the hard times, all the good times, they all made us who we are. So, instead of worrying about the smallest things in life or trying to make our lives perfect, let's try to seize every moment and regret nothing.
And above all, I believe that we should spend the time we have with our loved ones, because they are priceless. I think when we grow old, we won't remember much about how much we made every month or how many times we got praised by our boss and colleagues; we will remember the times we spend with ourselves and our family, and the moments that went through with them. So, let's make the most of our limited time for things which are important.
Finally, I want to end this post with a short conversation at the final moments of the main protagonist:

So... do you still have any regrets?Wassalamu'alaikum wr. wb.
Yeah, I have lots of those. But, that's okay.
The chances I missed, the mishaps, and all that I wish I had... they were all still part of it. They made way for all that I do have. And what I do have, I wouldn't trade with anything else in this world.
